Mom's Bunny Cake Tradition

I had to share Mom's Easter bunny cake tradition. We kids all grew up with Mom's bunny cakes every Easter and remember her making extras and sharing them with friends and neighbors. That tradition has been carried over into our own families and Easter is just not Easter without a bunny cake! I was talking to Mom a few days before Easter and she mentioned needing to get her bunny cake made. I thought it would be fun to get pictures from her children who were making bunny cakes this year and post them to share. While there were some who didn't respond to my request for pictures and may have made the cakes, Mom, Elese, Derek and I wanted to share our cakes. Sharon, Brooke F.and Louise's family also made bunny cakes, but didn't have pictures to share as they were delivered or enjoyed before they got my request for a picture! It is always a fun treat to share these cakes at Easter time; I know my friends loved receiving them! Thanks, Mom, for giving us these family traditions that bring meaning to our holidays and great memories!

There's Nothing Better Than A Foot Massage

Mom's feet have been so swollen and her joints so painful, that sweet Joyce sat on the living room floor a few nights ago and rubbed Mom's feet with soothing oils and gently massaged them. It was such a wonderful treat for Mom!

Detour from Seattle Brings Dan and Elese to Melba

Dan and Elese flew to Seattle to house-hunt but decided to make a "detour" down to Melba for 2 days to say hello to Dad and Mom. With them was the cutest little doll -- Breanna! They were received with gladness and brought a lot of love and cheer with them (along with the paparazzi who couldn't stop snapping photos of that darling baby!).

Snow in Melba!

We awoke at 4:30 a.m. March 6th to find the power out and snow falling outside. When we got up and got dressed a few hours later, this is what it looked like out the front door! In a winter of little snow, this was the most snowfall Melba had received all winter! And of course it would be on Idaho's Republican Caucus day! Dad and Mom did their patriotic duty and spent a good 5 hours at the caucus (home by 11:30 p.m.), voting for their pick for the Republican presidential nominee ... and I don't think their favored candidate's name is a secret! I was in the Idaho Center with them when the caucus winner for Canyon County was announced - Mitt Romney!

Sunday Dinners and Games

Sunday dinners and game nights live on in the Huber household! Mom and Dad hosted a fast sunday dinner with Sharon's family, Natalie and me and then we played an entire game of "O Heck O Shoot" (aka "Darn It"). Dad made his guesses very calculatingly, while Mom cast a devious, all-knowing look at us all before beginning the bidding! Matt, Riley and Natalie were mesmerized by the "trump" color lying in the middle of the table and Sharon giggled gleefully, knowing she had a winning hand! Memories, memories - what fun we have as a family!

Edelweiss

Mom plays "Edelweiss" so beautifully on the organ. It was a treat to go to her home again last week and listen to her enjoy her organ. Dad graciously looked at the diseased grapefruit tree leaves I brought him and diagnosed my tree's problem and treatment.
