Paula's Diagnosis

The Huber family has started this blog to update all those who love Paula and would like information on her status. As you know, there isn't a lot of information at this point, other than the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma that she received Thursday, December 29th.

We want to express our love and thanks to all who are fasting and praying for Paula. We know your prayers are heard and they are so appreciated by Paula. Paula has been in quite a bit of pain and our prayers now are that the pain may abate and that the doctors may determine the origin of this disease and the best treatment route for her.

Joyce wrote yesterday, Dec. 29th:
"Mom's tests showed cancer in the bone and other areas. They are going to the specialist in the morning to see just how far it has progressed and what treatments would be best. There are many unknowns right now. They think it might have started with breast cancer but they are unsure. It has been suggested that we have a family fast for Mom on Sunday, Jan. 1st [and if your regular fast Sunday is January 8th, it would be great if you fast for her then, too]. To those who are able to fast, we would invite you to do that in behalf of our sweet mother!! Mom is a fighter, we all know that and she is tough! She has put up with a lot of pain lately with very little complaining."

and then, Joyce's follow-up post today, December 30th, after the visit to the oncologist:
"Mom's appointment today was very long. It started at 9:30am and they got out around 1:00pm. This appointment was at the Mountain States Tumor Institute. They are not able yet to determine where it started and what stage it is in. Mom will need to have more testing done and these tests are set up for next week. They will get the results on January 17th and will then be able to plan treatment. Today at the appointment, Mom received an IV that had Zomata in it to help her heal the bones and to help with the pain. She is resting at home and watching movies. She, Dad, Natalie and Andy are watching the DVDS that KEVIN worked so hard on for their gift last year (putting all our old home movies onto DVDs). Mom was laughing and saying how wonderful it was to see all the pictures and to have those fun memories come back. Mom was so grateful for Kevin's hard work. (Me too!!!)!"
